SIT10222 Certificate I in Hospitality

SIT10222Nationally recognised training

A working introduction to the industry that powers Far North Queensland. Certificate I is short and hands-on: how a venue runs, how to work hygienically and safely, and how to be useful on a floor or in a kitchen from day one.

It's popular with school students (including as a school-based program), new starters, and anyone who wants to test whether hospitality suits them before committing to a bigger qualification.

Fees and funding

Eligible students may access this qualification subsidised through a Queensland Government program. Fees for each offering are shown above [VERIFY: program and fees per DTET schedule]. Check your eligibility.

What you'll learn

Hospitality fundamentals: hygienic practices, safe work, using hospitality skills effectively, interacting with customers, and sourcing industry knowledge. It's taught in our Mossman training rooms by people who've worked the venues they talk about.

Where it leads

Kitchen hand, café and quick-service roles, and housekeeping. From there, the next step is the SIT20322 Certificate II in Hospitality, often as a traineeship with a local employer. Add a Responsible service of alcohol or food safety certificate and you're employable this season.
