CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
CHC43015Nationally recognised training
The step up for experienced aged care workers. The Certificate III makes you effective in the role; the Certificate IV prepares you to take responsibility: coordinating services for the people you support, implementing individualised plans, leading falls prevention and dementia care, and mentoring newer staff.
It's designed to fit around work: one class day per week over 40 weeks, with monthly intakes so you can start when you're ready rather than waiting for February. You'll need roughly ten hours a week of your own study alongside class, and you'll complete 120 hours of placement as part of your assessment (ask us if your current workplace qualifies).
Fees and funding
Eligible Queenslanders study this course under the Career Boost program at the subsidised co-contribution fee shown above. Career Boost is for people who don't already hold a certificate IV or higher, so most working Certificate III holders qualify. Check your eligibility. Full-fee study with a payment plan is available otherwise.
What you'll learn
Eighteen units (fifteen core and three electives) cover the coordination and leadership side of aged care: facilitating the empowerment of older people, implementing interventions for those at risk, supporting people living with dementia, palliative approaches, and meeting statutory and organisational requirements. This is the qualification behind team leader and coordinator roles.
Entry requirements
You'll need a Certificate III in Individual Support (we recognise the current CHC33021 and the superseded CHC33015) and to be comfortable committing to independent study each week. A language, literacy and numeracy check before enrolment helps us set you up properly.
Recognition of prior learning
Experienced workers can apply for recognition of prior learning against this qualification. See RPL and credit transfer. Note that subsidised places can't be used for a qualification achieved entirely through RPL.
Where it leads
Senior personal care worker, aged care team leader, coordinator of home care services, and specialist roles across residential and community aged care.
