RPL and credit transfer
If you can already do the work, you shouldn't have to sit through the training again. You should have to prove it. That's the deal with recognition of prior learning, and we assess it honestly: real evidence, properly judged, no rubber stamps and no run-arounds.
Credit transfer
Already completed units of competency with another RTO? If they match units in your course, we credit them, free. Bring your Statement of Attainment or USI transcript and we'll verify it. Credit transfer costs nothing and there's no assessment; it's your record, recognised.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
RPL assesses whether your skills and experience (paid work, volunteering, life) already meet the requirements of units or a whole qualification. The process:
- Talk to us first. A short conversation tells us whether RPL is realistic for you or whether training is genuinely the better path. We'll say which.
- Apply with the RPL application form, alongside an enrolment form.
- Build your evidence: work samples, references, position descriptions, observation where needed. Your assessor guides what counts.
- Assessment and outcome. Where gaps exist, we offer gap training for just those units rather than the whole course.
We currently offer structured RPL programs for the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support and CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support, and consider RPL applications for other qualifications on our scope.
RPL and subsidised places
One honest caveat: Queensland Government subsidised places can't be used for a qualification achieved entirely through RPL or credit transfer, and there's never a fee for credit transfer itself. We'll explain how this applies to your situation before you commit to anything.
Fees: credit transfer is free, always. RPL fees depend on the qualification and how many units you're applying to have recognised; we quote the full fee in writing before you apply, so you can weigh it against training.
