BSB10120 Certificate I in Workplace Skills

BSB10120Nationally recognised training

A first qualification for people getting ready to work. If you've just left school, have been out of the workforce for a while, or have never had the chance to build formal work skills, this course covers the foundations employers notice: showing up prepared, communicating clearly, working alongside others, using everyday digital tools, and staying safe on the job.

Classes are small and practical, and the pace is set so nobody gets left behind. There are no entry requirements. Support with reading, writing and numbers is part of how we teach, not a hurdle before you start.

Fees and funding

Eligible students may access this qualification subsidised under the Queensland Government's Career Start program. The co-contribution fee for every offering is shown above. As a traineeship, the fee for eligible trainees is set by the department at $1.60 per nominal training hour. Check your eligibility.

What you'll learn

Workplace readiness end to end: planning and preparing for work, communication, teamwork, personal wellbeing at work, using digital devices and business software at a foundation level, and contributing to workplace health and safety.

Where it leads

Straight into entry-level work, or into the BSB20120 Certificate II in Workplace Skills, which most of our Certificate I graduates continue into. It also pairs well with a first aid certificate, which many employers ask for.
