CHCSS00070 Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set
CHCSS00070Nationally recognised training
Assisting a client with their medication carries real responsibility, and many employers won't let you do it without this exact training. This nationally recognised skill set gives care and support workers the skills and legal grounding to assist clients with medication safely, within your role's boundaries and your organisation's protocols.
It's a short, targeted program, not a full qualification: built for people already working in aged care, disability or community support who need this specific capability added to their scope of practice. Employers often send whole teams. Ask us about group delivery at your workplace.
Fees and funding
Eligible Queenslanders can access this skill set subsidised under the Career Boost program at the co-contribution fee shown above. Skill sets are exempt from Career Boost's prior-qualification rule, so you can access this even if you already hold a certificate IV or higher. Up to two subsidised skill sets are available per person. Check your eligibility.
What's involved
Training and assessment against the skill set's units of competency, including safe assistance with medication, the medication types and routes you'll encounter, documentation, and what to do when something isn't right. On successful completion you receive a Statement of Attainment for the units achieved, recognised nationally and with credit available toward relevant qualifications.
Who it's for
Support workers in aged care, disability and community services; employers formalising medication-assistance competence across a team. If your role involves administering and monitoring medication rather than assisting, ask us about the CHCSS00067 Administer and Monitor Medication Skill Set instead. We deliver that too.
