CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
CHC33021Nationally recognised training
The entry qualification for disability support work. The Disability specialisation takes the Certificate III in Individual Support core and focuses the electives on what NDIS support work involves: strengths-based skill development, community participation and social inclusion, and working effectively within disability services.
Disability support is person-first work: supporting people to live the lives they choose rather than doing things for them. That philosophy runs through the whole course, and through the 120 hours of placement you'll complete with real providers in the region.
Fees and funding
Eligible Queenslanders study this course under the Career Start program at the subsidised co-contribution fee shown above. Check your eligibility. Done as a traineeship while employed in disability support, it is fee-free for eligible trainees. Full-fee study with a payment plan is available otherwise.
What you'll learn
The nine core units cover individualised, person-centred support, empowerment, healthy body systems, communication, diversity, legal and ethical practice, infection prevention and safe direct-care work. Disability-stream electives build your practice in supporting community participation, ongoing skill development using a strengths-based approach, and working effectively in disability support settings.
Entry requirements
A short language, literacy and numeracy check before enrolment, a current police certificate, and any screening or vaccinations your placement provider requires. NDIS providers typically require an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, and we'll help you arrange it. No previous qualification needed.
Where it leads
Disability support worker, community access support worker, residential support worker, and NDIS provider roles across the region. From here, the CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support, which requires this qualification for entry, is subsidised under Career Boost for eligible students.
